Harvard Gulfstream Outsourcing and Specialized Billing Scholarship

Rick Fossier and Doug Shamon have long recognized the importance of the leadership in emergency medical services. They have been strong supporters of EMS and they were the first ones to sponsor the scholarship for the IAEMSC. In their new roles at Gulfstream Outsourcing and Specialized Billing (GoSB) they have continued that commitment by sponsoring a scholarship for a member of the IAEMSC to attend the Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.

The Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government provides a balance of traditional and hands-on learning experiences to help seasoned public officials to meet the changing needs of their constituents and communities. Utilizing the case-study format pioneered at Harvard they have a dynamic environment that participants have described as life-changing. In particular, this program enables participants to become more effective public managers through a series of interactive classroom experiences, where faculty and participants work together on real-life case studies and learn from each other. Competition for entrance to the program is intense and represents executives working with state and local governments as elected, appointed, and career officials, as well as senior leaders in non-profit organizations.
